If you bought one of the 833,000 Peloton Original Series Bike+ PL02 models sold between January 2020 and April 2025, we’ve got bad news for you: Peloton has recalled your bike after receiving multiple reports of seat posts breaking and detaching during use, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday.
Three Bike+ users have reported issues with their seat posts breaking, according to the CPSC, including two who reported subsequent injuries due to a fall.
The recall is also bad news for Peloton, which has struggled to regain its footing since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. This recall marks the fifth in the company’s 13-year history — and its second for a seat-post problem.
In 2023, Peloton was forced to recall 2.2 million base Bike models after receiving 35 reports of the seat post breaking and detaching during use, and 13 reports of injuries, including a fractured wrist, lacerations and bruises.
Two years earlier, Peloton recalled its Tread+ treadmill after a child was killed.
If your Bike+ has been recalled, the CPSC says you should immediately stop using it and contact Peloton for a free repair. The company will send you a new seat post to install at home.
The last time Peloton recalled its bikes due to a seat-post issue, the cost to the company was at least $40 million.

The recalled Bike+ PL02 model was manufactured between 2019 and 2022 and sold through Peloton and Dick’s Sporting Goods stores nationwide, as well as online at onepeloton.com, ebay.com, Amazon.com and Dickssportinggoods.com. It costs about $2,495.
Recalled Bike+ PL02 models have a serial number beginning with the letter “T.” The bike’s serial number is located inside the front fork, behind the front fork or behind the flywheel. Additional information to help locate your Bike+ serial number is available here.
